Interested in becoming a Brother...?

There are many advantages to joining SigEp at Randolph-Macon:

ACADEMICS

The academic portion of your university career is a significant determinant in your future success. The primary purpose of the fraternity system is to encourage and develop high scholastic achievement among its members. Nationally, just over 50% of students end up graduating. However, fraternity members have over a 70% graduation rate. SigEp is no different; we all strive to reach our own academic goals, and with the help of the fraternity and the brothers, it is much easier to accomplish. What makes SigEp different from all others on our campus is our grade policy and scholarship program. SigEp has ranked in the top two in GPA of all fraternities on campus since 2004 and boasts a GPA over the all-campus average (2.855). We also have started a program where college professor Dr. Ed Showalter (Business/Economics) comes into our house and provides office hours. He helps us with time management skills and also offers help with subject matter.

ATHLETICS
Fraternities participate in many competitive sports through intramural events. Coordinated with the idea that a Sound Body is necessary to be a Balanced Man, SigEp boasts Athletes of various sports and strives for the best.. SigEp placed second overall in Greek Week in the Spring of 2005. Joining SigEp allows for the opportunity to make a difference in athletics, while meeting new people and enjoying the beautiful campus of R-MC.

SOCIAL
Another major part of college and the Greek System is social life. SigEp offers its members a filled social calendar, participating in social events with sororities, sorority/fraternity philanthropy contests and athletic events, and building a strong brotherhood through various activities at or around Randolph-Macon's campus. Included in the social calendar are annual house parties, the homecoming CRABFEAST, Gallop for PKD philanthropy horse race at the Foxfield Races in Charlottesville, and the Annual Alumni Lawn Party.

LEADERSHIP
While in a fraternity, many take on leadership positions, whether it be an officer, committee head, or just a participant. You will learn how to run meetings, speak in public, motivate others, and other skills that help mold people into leaders. Since it takes more than a degree to get a job, these leadership skills can help you get a job.

BROTHERHOOD
Brotherhood is what truly sets fraternities apart from other organizations. As a brother, the friendships which are formed are unlike those found in any other organization. Through activities such as brotherhood gatherings, formals, and athletics, you will make life long friends with men who share the same ideals as yourself. The brothers of SigEp hold the cardinal principle of Brotherly Love sacred. Our brothers are there for each other in times of trouble and celebrate together in times of joy. We host weekly brotherhood dinners, as well as trips to Richmond Braves games, Home sporting events games, and cookouts with different sororities.

COMMUNITY SERVICE
We are committed to helping and improving the community in which we live. Whether it be hosting our own philanthropic events, participating in others, or helping build a home for a needy family, SigEp strives to help Ashland and the surrounding community. We currently have two members on the IFC Community Relations Board, where they are helping with such events as Spring Clean, Jamboree, and Adopt-a-Block. SigEp's national philanthropy is YouthAids, and we are currently planning an afternoon charity event that will raise money through a giant root beer pong tournament on the patio of Blackwell Auditorium.
